Edwin Ford Clark, Jr

May 11, 1947 — September 1, 2021

Edwin Ford Clark, Jr. was born in Meriden CT on May 11, 1947, to Edwin Ford Clark and Irene Hill Clark. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Fernando Valley State College (CSU Northridge) in 1971, and earned his Master’s of Education at the University of South Alabama in 1973. Ed was married to Linda Gordon on June 15, 1974. Their first child, Cathy, was born in 1975. Ed built a home in Decatur, GA, for his family, which grew when their second daughter, Emily, was born in 1984.

Ed was a teacher and lifelong learner interested in science and in history. He produced a film series on diabetes and self-published a book. Always up for an adventure, he took the family on trips around the US and to Europe, Canada, and Mexico. In later years, Ed and Linda visited India, Nepal, China, Turkey, the Caribbean, and Ecuador. Ed was passionate in his beliefs and interests and enjoyed sharing them with others. He never knew a stranger and was not shy about approaching others and learning about them. He was generous and gave freely to people he felt he could help.

Ed fought a long battle with numerous illnesses, including diabetes, leukemia, and kidney failure. Though he was fully vaccinated, COVID-19 presented him with his final challenge. Ed passed away on September 1st, 2021 at Emory University Hospital.

He is survived by: wife Linda Gordon Clark, daughters Catherine Elizabeth Clark and Emily Joy Clark (Daniel Graubman), grandsons Evan Smith and Lukas Parker, his siblings and siblings-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, if so moved, memorial donations can be made to UUCA, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta. A private service will be held at a later date.
