Elbert Price

Elbert F. Price, 94, was welcomed by our Lord Jesus Christ on January 11, 2025. He was a resident of Tucker, GA, for 47 years.

Elbert is preceded in death by his parents, John DeWitt Price and Floy Foster Price; and brother, J.D. Price, Jr.

Elbert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Hogan Price; his son John Price (Laura), his daughter Susan Price; his grandchildren Joshua Baez (Kazzandra), Ashley Graves (Cameron), Natalie Bansal (Sambhav), and Emily Price; and great-grandchild, Isabel Graves.

Elbert Foster Price, born November 25, 1930, in rural Monroe County, Georgia, during the Great Depression, lived a remarkable life. Growing up on a farm without electricity or plumbing, he developed a strong work ethic early on, helping his family before school. At age 10, he learned to drive a Model A truck, impressing the man who was supposed to give him his driver's test.

Elbert graduated from Mary Persons High School in Forsyth in 1947, then moved to Atlanta to attend Georgia State University while working at Continental Insurance. His education and career were interrupted by the Korean War, where he served in the US Air Force, including a deployment to Tokyo, Japan. Elbert achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.

After his service, Elbert returned to Atlanta, completed his degree, and continued working at Continental. He married Shirley Jean Hogan in 1962, and they had two children, John and Susan. The family moved to Tucker, Georgia, in 1978, where they became active members of Tucker First Baptist Church. Elbert served as a deacon, treasurer, and trustee, applying his meticulous nature to the church.

Elbert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather always present for his family and creating lasting memories. He was a role model of integrity and kindness and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, Janaury 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, GA with a visitation held an hour prior.

Interment will be at Union Chapel Church in Monroe, GA immediately following the services.
