Eldon Brewster of Atlanta, formerly of Sunnyside, Georgia passed away March 29. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, step daughters Connie Poss and Linda Smith, and four step grandchildren; John Poss, Christian, Noah and Kennedy Smith, two sisters, Ruby Jagoe of Alabama and Dempsey King of Mableton, and sister-in-law Theo Taylor of Atlanta. He is also survived by his extended family, Sally, Paul and Carey Rosser. His daughter, Benita, and first wife Paxton preceded him in death.
Eldon was born and raised in Sunnyside, Georgia. He enlisted in the Army straight from high school and was sent directly into World War II. He was stationed in Guam in the Army Air Force as an aerial photographer. The love of flying continued on his return to Atlanta, when he soloed and licensed in an early model Piper Cub in 1951. He continued his studies at Georgia Tech and began a 55-year career as an accountant.
He was an active member of the Sunnyside United Methodist Church and a 40-year member of the LaVista Lions Club of Atlanta, famous for his biennial Bar-B-Q benefits for visually impaired.
The family will receive visits at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home on Friday, April 1 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
The funeral will be held at Turner and Sons on April 2nd at 2:00pm with interment at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
