Eleftheria Carberis Moraitakis, of Decatur, died Monday October 7, 2024. She was born and raised in Atlanta, Ga and prided herself on the fact that she was a Native Atlantan and avid Braves fan. Her family and friends describe her as a fun-loving woman who brought joy to those she met. She was quick witted, had a good sense of humor and loved to make others laugh.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, George N. Moraitakis, her parents Anna and Angelo Carberis, her sister, Agalia Moraitakis, two loving brothers-in-law, Costa Moraitakis and Edward Stewart and daughter-in-law, Deidre C. Cain. She leaves behind her daughter, Alexis Moraitakis; Sons, John G. Moraitakis (Anna), Mark G. Moraitakis (Dimitra). Her beautiful grandchildren who lovingly call themselves, "Lefty's Legends": George, Elli, Aubrey, Renna, and Nicolette. We are fortunate to still have her sister to love on, our Aunt Joann C. Stewart. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and God children that she loved dearly.
Mom was fortunate enough to have excellent care in the last years of her life. Charmaine and Suzie kept our mom comfortable and entertained when we could not be with her. We appreciate the staff at Kingsbridge for their kindness to our mom. Most recently our mom was at Canterbury Court. The staff at Canterbury Court knew our mom for only a short time but, provided exceptional care as she made her transition, along with the devoted care of Hospice Atlanta. We have been grateful for all this loving support, as we always knew our mom was being well cared for at all times.
Our mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will be deeply missed. Even though she will be "out of our sight", her love will be embedded in our hearts for eternity.
Service to celebrate her life will be Thursday October 10, 2024 at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Funeral will be at 12 noon followed by burial at Foral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral Benevolence Fund or to Hospice Atlanta.
