Eleonor Bayer

On Saturday, December 5, 2020, Eleonor Bayer, a courageous woman, loving spouse and mother of four, passed away at the age of 76.

Eleonor was born on February 15, 1944 to Mariano and Helen (Gonzalez) Miranda. She received her nursing degree from St. Paul College, and she owned and operated her own board and care facility in Alameda, California. She raised four children, Rowena, Louie, Wendy and Gilbert and shared a 36 year partnership with Harry Shim.

Eleonor had a passion for taking care of the elderly and she used her passion to create a safe and extraordinary space where each person she encountered was treated with the same love and respect as one of her own family. Her dedication to caregiving was something to aspire to and was admired by her community, family and friends. Eleonor also loved to cook Filipino food, and reveled in teaching others how to cook the wonderful foods she loved to make. She was known for her kind and compassionate spirit.

Eleonor was preceded in death by her partner Harry. She is survived by her four children Rowena, Louie, Wendy and Gilbert; her brother Jun, sister-in-law Beth; her grandchildren Cassandra, Alex, Porter and Isabelle; and aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.

A virtual memorial service will be held on December 9th, 2020 at the following time: 10am EST/7am PST/11pm Philippine Standard Time. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Albert the 1022 Holly St, Alameda, CA 94502 in her honor.
