Elinor Evans Yarbrough, 91, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord February 6, 2016. Born January 8, 1925, in Forked River, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Embry and Myrtle Euphania Penn Evans. Elinor enjoyed spending time with her family, the outdoors, gardening, sewing, and reading. She was a dedicated member of Columbia Drive Baptist Church and served as their financial secretary for more than 20 years. Elinor was a caring wife, mother, and friend, and was available to anyone who needed someone to listen.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie Watson, and Sharon Yarbrough; two grandchildren, Wendy McClung and Angela Chirello; four great grandchildren, Caitlin, William, Jack, and Elizabeth; and many more family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Elinor was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Hubert Leroy Yarbrough.
A special "Thank You" goes to her two loving caregivers, Wendy and Caitlin McClung.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, February 10, from 6 – 8 p.m. at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 11, at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Wiley officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
