Elizabeth Beal Kidd died unexpectedly of natural causes related to her heart on January 29th. She passed quietly at home in Alpharetta, Georgia at the age of 47. She was the cherished daughter of Rebecca Mathews Beal and Robert Alexander Beal, the loving wife to Joel, and the doting mother to Bobby, Elias, and Charlotte. Liz is survived by her husband and children, her mother, her brothers, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Liz was the picture of devotion to her beloved husband, partner and friend, Joel. She was fiercely proud of the accomplishments of her children and supportive of the people they are becoming. Encouraging and cheerleading their accomplishments was paramount in her day. She was also quite happy to praise and organize her brothers Truman and Alex, along with a multitude of family, friends, and youth community that she served.
Liz’s dedication to the church, which became her profession, was anchored by Camp Mikell. As a camper, councilor, summer staffer, Dean staffer, Dean and then a few terms on the Board of Mikell, she mentored children who needed encouragement and affirmation. Youth ministry was her calling and she excelled at it. She was a friend to all but kept a close spot in her heart for the timid, broken, and “weird ones”. These were her favorites. Liz lived her life in the service of others. She dedicated her time, talent, and energy to the youth of the Atlanta Diocese. To paraphrase a friend and colleague of hers, Liz shared so much light and love in the world during her time on earth … imagine what she is going to do now that she has been unleashed upon the cosmos.
Liz Beal Kidd shared her joy, energy and understanding with people of all ages. Her family interests brought her much happiness. Whether scouting, hiking, camping, taking vacations to Disney, or going to see her favorite band’s concerts, Liz lived life as an expression of joy. Her trademark smile, greeting, and quick wit are now in our memories.
Her funeral will be on February 26 at 1:00, at the Cathedral of Saint Philip. In lieu of flowers and to honor her life, please donate to Mikell Camp and Conference Center or the animal shelter or rescue of your choice.
