On June 25, 2012, Elizabeth F. Statham, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmothher passed away peacefully in her home of natural causes. She was 90 years old. Elizabeth was born August 5, 1921 in Birmingham, Alabama to Thomas Emmett & Lucy Hanlin Fitzgerald. Elizabeth attended local schools and business college in Birmingham before moving to Atlanta in 1946. She worked for H. M. Patterson & Sons, the Atlanta Presbytery and in Decatur, the DeKalb County Board of Health where she retired in 1993 after 23 years. She was an active member of North Decatur Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and loved her family and church. She enjoyed gardening, arranging flowers and playing bridge. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority for 50 years and an active volunteer with Easter Seals during retirement. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two older brothers, Thomas E. Fitzgerald and James E. Fitzgerald and her former husband, Robert E. Statham, Jr.. Survived by her brother, Rev. George H. Fitzgerald & wife Stella of Virginia Beach, VA; She is also survived by her four children and their families: daughter, Carole Bouton and husband, John of Garland, TX and grandsons, Paul and David; son, Robert E. Statham, III and wife, Jane of Snellville and grandsons, Ben and wife, April and great granddaughter, Hadley, and Matthew, granddaughters, Jennifer and Stefanie and husband, Daniel; son, Thomas W. Statham and wife Cathy of Dunwoody, GA, grandson, Harrison & granddaughter, Mary Catherine; daughter, Elizabeth Anne Choyce & husband, George of Signal Mountain, TN, grandsons, Neal, Drew & Preston and granddaughter, Kelly. Also surviving are numerous nephews and nieces. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 am at North Decatur Presbyterian Church. A reception in the fellowship hall will immediately follow the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at the funeral home or a donation made to the Easter Seals of Greater Atlanta., 1200 Lake Hearn Dr., Suite 250, Atlanta, GA 30319. A. S.
