Mrs. Elizabeth Griffith Hopkins, 93, of Winder went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cramond Hopkins. She is survived by son, William Hopkins of Tampa, FL; daughter, Sharron Hyder of Jefferson; grandchildren, Michael Hyder, Mary Hopkins, Laura McCrea, Susan Gaston, Sandra Cole, Julie Hyder, and Edward Hyder; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous great great grandchildren. Elizabeth was born in Red Hill, Alabama to the late Roy and Minnie Lee Griffith. She moved to Georgia to live with her mother’s sister and became the pool manager for Eagle Lake on North Decatur Road.. While working there she met her future husband. During World War II she worked for Sears, Roebuck in Atlanta. Later in years, she assisted her husband at the locally owned Plaza Gulf service station in Avondale Estate. She had a hobby of doing hair for her friends and family. Later in life she and her husband moved to Lake Lanier in Flowery Branch, where she enjoyed gardening and raising her own vegetables. She was a wonderful mother and devoted wife. Elizabeth left behind a legacy from her many friends and family. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, October 25th with Rev. Raymond Hardy officiating. Interment Melwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at A. S. Turner & Sons
