Elizabeth Jean Rieckmann died Friday, September 3, 2021 with her mother by her side in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 35.
Elizabeth was born on September 11, 1985 in Lodi, California to William and Linda Rieckmann. Elizabeth grew up in Georgia where she attended Stockbridge Middle and High Schools. Elizabeth was actively involved in the theater department, as well as several clubs and organizations, and volunteered countless hours after school and on weekends for the betterment of her community. Elizabeth graduated as valedictorian of the class of 2004 after which she decided to attend Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. As an undergraduate, Elizabeth explored her love for theater, ultimately deciding to major in Theatrical Arts and minor in Political Science. She took part in university productions including Shakespeare's The Tempest. After graduation, Elizabeth interned for Brown University’s theater department in Rhode Island and subsequently attended Emory University to obtain a Master’s Degree in Public Health Administration. Elizabeth went on to pursue a career working as an advertising and social media consultant for various local Henry County businesses.
Elizabeth was the best daughter and best friend anyone could have asked for. Despite the adversities she faced in life, she spread joy, laughter, positivity, and love to everyone she encountered. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her father, William Rieckmann. She is survived by her mother, Linda Rieckmann; her aunt, Charlotte Donahoe; and her uncles, Robert "Bob" Rieckmann, James "Jim" Rieckmann and Richard "Rick" Rieckmann.
The family will hold a memorial at Clark Park (Pavilion D) in Stockbridge, Georgia on October 2, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Attendees are encouraged to wear bright colors, especially varying shades of pink and purple which were Liz's favorite colors. The event will be streamed online for those who are unable to attend. The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the National Foundation for Transplants in Elizabeth’s name.
In addition to donations, we ask that you perform one act of kindness - no matter how big or small, for a loved one or a complete stranger - to honor Elizabeth’s memory.
