Elizabeth Jeanne McCain "B. J." Clarke died February 9, 2011, in Atlanta. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, in 1926, she was the daughter of the late Paul S. and Isobel Kiefer McCain. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert D. "Bob" Clarke and her brother, Donald S. McCain. B. J. traveled much of the world, but her favorite places were the small Pennsylvania towns of her youth – Rush, Montrose, and Tunkhannock. B. J. was a proud graduate of Keystone College. After raising five children and serving actively as a volunteer in their schools, she enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a land use planner with the DeKalb County Planning Department until retiring in 1994. B. J. is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Judy Clarke, Richard and Betty Lou Clarke, Dan and Susie Clarke; son, Matt Clarke; daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Greg Hendricks; grandchildren, Christia and her husband Mike Long, David and his wife J. R., Michael and his wife Megan, Sarah, Ellen, and John; great grandchildren, McCain, Marra, Isaac, and Joshua. The funeral service for Mrs. Clarke will be 4 pm, Saturday, February 12, 2011, in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons, with Rev. Louis Miller officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery, Allentown PA, on Saturday, February 26th. Memorial contributions in memory of B. J. Clarke are welcome to be made to Keystone College, One College Green, LaPlume PA 18440. The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm to 3:45 pm prior to the service at A. S. Turner & Sons.
