Elizabeth "Libby" Jackson

Janie Elizabeth “Libby” Hendrix was born in Manchester, GA September 26, 1927 and graduated from Manchester High School.  She moved to Atlanta, GA, met and married the love of her life Richard T. Jackson, and they were married for 51 years. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service retiring in 1987.  Later in life, Libby loved nothing more than vacationing with her son, daughter-in-law and grandson, Glenn, Cindy, and Gavin Jackson and her daughter Gail Jackson Gould. She was a member of First Christian Church of Atlanta and enjoyed her time with Christian Women’s Fellowship.  In 2019 she went for a “short” visit to California to visit her daughter Gail, but health issues and COVID prevented her from returning to Georgia.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, and passed away June 15, 2022 at the age of 94 in Sacramento, CA.  

She will be sorely missed by not only her immediate family and friends, but by her sister-in-law Bernice Jackson, 2 nieces, Bonnie Deal and Jenny Fleming and 4 nephews Jeffry Jackson, and Keith, Gary, and Mark Hendrix.  Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 5^th at Floral Hills Memory Gardens 3000 Lawrenceville Hwy. Tucker, Georgia, 30084.  Reverend Tom Edmondson, First Christian Church of Atlanta officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Elizabeth “Libby” Jackson to Sardis Church Cemetery Fund, 4490 Rush Creek Hwy, Woodland, GA 31836.  

The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 12 PM Tuesday, July 5^th at A. S. Turner & Sons 2773 N. Decatur Road Decatur, GA  30033.
