Mr. Elmer B. Morrow, age 88, of Decatur died peacefully at his home Saturday, October 2, 2010. He retired as Athletic Director from the DeKalb County School System. He was a veteran of World War II, received his masters degree from the University of Alabama. He taught and coached at Druid Hills High School from 1949 to 1961. He was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1977. Coach Morrow was honored as National Athletic Director of the year in 1980. Mr. Morrow was an avid skier and taught his children and a grandson to ski. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris Morrow of Decatur; daughter, Mary Beth Pinckard of Atlanta; son, Tom Morrow of Snellville; sisters, Polly Johnson of Albany, NY and Margaret Duncan of Greenville, SC; five grand children and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 8, 2010 at the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Lee Fullerton officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Eagle Ranch, P.O. Box 7200, Chestnut Mountain, Georgia 30502 or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Friday at A. S.
