Elvis Leonidus Sellers

Elvis Leonidus (Lonnie) Sellers, 99, passed away Tuesday, October 10th, 2017. Elvis was born October 29th, 1918 in Cairo (Grady County), Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Stanfield Sellers. The last member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lee and Laura Mae Braffin Sellers; brothers Alvin Seaman Sellers, Thurman Lee Sellers, and Browner Floyd Sellers; sisters Verna Mae Sellers Shiver and Eileen Sellers Murphy. Mr. Sellers was a life-long member of the Masons and Shriners, a member of Veteran Organizations, American Legion, VFM and DAV. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Tucker, GA., and Deacon Emeritus of Druid Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA. After 33 years of service, Mr. Sellers retired from the United States Army. He served in World War II in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters, serving during the occupation of Germany, Japan, and Okinawa, as well as serving in both Korea and Vietnam. In his civilian life, Mr. Sellers worked for, and retired from The Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Sellers enjoyed traveling, and visited places all over the world, both while in the military and after retirement. While at home, his favorite hobby was gardening and enjoying nature. There will be a graveside service, for Elvis on Friday, October 13, at 2 pm at the Marietta National Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia. Condolences may be made at asturner.com.
