Heaven gained an angel on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 when Emily Joan Smith Willingham went to be with Jesus. Emily was a well loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Emily had a beautiful singing voice and loved music. She as a 1957 graduate of Avondale High School. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was born August 4, 1939 in Milstead, Georgia, to the late Ollie Vernon and Eddis Borders Smith. In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Gene Willingham; three sisters; and two brothers.
She is survived by her three loving children, Cindy Seibert and her husband, Don, of Lawrenceville, Robin Mote and her husband, Dale, of Cleveland, GA, and Jim Willingham and his wife, Gwen of Winder. She is also survived by her greatest joys, her seven grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher, Mallorie, Jace, Jensen, Jesse and Emilie. Also her two adored great grandchildren, Trinity and Phoenix. She is also survived by five siblings, Larry Smith and his wife, Kelly, Joe Smith and his wife, Carol, Terry Smith, Beverly Kanda and her husband, Joe, and Judy Sizemore; as well as two sisters-in-law, Sarah Furrow and Gloria Willingham. Also many, many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, January 19, at A.S. Turner & Sons. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Alton Wilson officiating.
Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery.
