Emily Stanley Glasser, 78 years old, died on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the Hospice Atlanta Center in The Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. After her valiant fight with Breast Cancer in 1988, Emily's battle resumed in May 2010 with Colon Cancer. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through the next 7 years until she was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in March of 2017.
Emily was born on October 26, 1938 in Krakow, Poland to Kristina and Emil Wander.
After graduating from Washington Irving High School and working at the Payne Whitney Clinic of Cornell Medical Center, she met her sweetheart, Lewis Glasser. The couple was married in 1957.
Married for 8 years, Emily and Lewis raised their child Stefanie over the years in Decatur, Georgia. Emily faithfully cared for family, friends and abandoned animals. A woman of faith and the heart of the Glasser family, Emily shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. With a real zest for life, Emily loved to write, read, pray, bowl, play games/cards – especially with her Grandchildren, chat with friends and family, and visit with the sick…just to name a few. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten.
Emily always lived by the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you would like to be treated. So do a loving act of kindness, make someone laugh, send a card, give a hug, or say "I love you" to your special friend.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually, but including: The amazing Atlanta Hospice Team; Shirley, Veronda, Jackie and Phil.
This nicely sums up, in one sentence, how fondly she will be remembered: Our Angel that lived, laughed, and loved.
In honor of my dearest Mother, it is my tribute to her memory, which will be carried on in the legacy of love which is now each of us – the lives she formed and touched by her love.
Her surviving family members are few, but include her Ex- Husband Lewis, only child Stefanie and her grandchildren Brandon and Bryce. The family wishes to celebrate her life privately and will not be holding a public service.
Memorial donations should be made to one of the following organizations Mom cared about: The American Alzheimer's Society in memory of her father Mark Stanley, The American Cancer Society, or a no-kill animal shelter.
Feel free to leave the family your condolences via the guestbook provided.
