Emily Panos, beloved mother and grandmother, fell asleep in the Lord on July 21, 2012. She was born on November 4, 1922 in Athens, Greece. When Emily was eight years old, her father, Prodomos, an Athens dentist, passed away, and she was sent to Constantinople to live with her Aunt Olga. This helped Emily's mother, Maria, to take care of the remaining five children. Later on, Emily attended the University of Athens. After the war, Emily came to America by ship and was introduced to Coca Cola and Hershey bars, which she loved. She settled in Atlanta Georgia where she studied economics at Georgia State University. She and her brother started a restaurant business where she worked very hard. Later on, she invested in and managed real estate. She met Everett Panos, and they were married within two weeks. They were married for fifty wonderful years until Everett's passing in 2004. Emily is survived by children, Johnny Panos, Maria and Don Shaver, Costa and Vickie Panos, Helen and Niko Bouboulis; and grandchildren, Costa, Emily, Kristin, and Stephanie. Donations may be given to the Annunciation Day School, Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 2500 Clairmont Road, Atlanta, GA 30329. The prayer service will be held 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24 with visitation from 5-7 at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home on North Decatur Road. The funeral will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Clairmont Road, following with internment at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
