Enoch E. Thomas, Jr. passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 86 years old. He was a native of Columbus, GA, where he became a teacher and principal after serving in World War II. In 1960 he moved to DeKalb County to become a principal for their school system. He opened two elementary schools as principal, Woodward Elementary and Austin Elementary in Dunwoody. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. Mr. Thomas is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Hazlehurst H. Thomas. He is survived by two children, Mary Kip Thomas and Tony Thomas, also, three grandchildren Landon and Mary Austin Toney and Hatcher Thomas. He will be remembered as an advocate for children's education and as a loving member of our family. He was buried with family and friends in attendance at Floral Hills Memory Gardens on Friday, September 23 with Mr. Sam Hayes officiating. A. S. Turner & Sons in Decatur was in charge of arrangements.
