Epaminondas (Emil) George Ketsios, 78, peacefully passed after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease on November 26, 2013 in Atlanta, GA. Born in the village of Nyala, Agrafa, Greece to George Epaminondas Ketsios and Polyxeni Halvetzis. He emigated to America in the late 1950's, landing in Chicago, Il., where he worked in steel mills, as a optic lens technician, and was one of the last coal firemen on the railways. Married to Angeliki (Ange) Panagopoulos in 1964, together they raised four children and ran a number of successful small businesses. He was known for his sense of humor, work ethic, and compassion. He treasured four things in life: family, home, work, and food. He is survived by his wife, Ange; his daughters, Pauline Zelis (Ketsios) and Fotine Wall (Ketsios); his sons, George Ketsios and Anastasios Ketsios; grandchildren, Adam, Drue and Leonidas; and his sister, Olga Deligiannis. Funeral services will be held at the Greek Cathedral of the Annunciation on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. He will be missed. The family will receive friends at A. S. Turner and Sons on Thursday evening, December 5th from 6-8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM.
