Ernest Lee Getzinger

Ernest Lee Getzinger, born March 1, 1939 in Toledo, OH  passed away April 18, 2007 in Cartersville, GA. Ernie attended Clay High School in Toledo.  He was drafted into the Armed Forces in 1962 where he served as an Army PFC in Company ?A? 503d Military Police Battalion in Fort Bragg, NC.  During his service, he served in the Korean War, received a Good Conduct Medal and Letter of Commendation, and was Honorably Discharged in 1968. He moved to the Metro Atlanta area in 1983 where he worked as a Carpenter until he retired in 1996.  He was presently employed as a part time security officer at Bartow Security.  Ernie was known for his charming personality, witty sense of humor, and his love for life and family.  He was known by many and loved by all.  He will be terribly missed. Ernie is survived by daughters, Lisa Getzinger and her partner Kristy Gibson; Julie Richardson and her husband David;  Cindi Mechler;  Eleanor Yuenkel and her husband John;  and 6 grandchildren:  Zackary, Emma, Anna, Josh, Jonathon, and Paige.  His extended family includes Janice Lee and her children, Sam and his wife Alicia, Jessica and her husband Blake, Joseph, and Willy; 3 brothers, Nick, Daniel, and Jim; 1 sister, Betty; and several nieces and nephews.  Ernie was preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 in Decatur, GA.  Family will receive visitors at 10am followed by a service at 11am.  A. S.
