Ernestine Tyson Rhodes

Ernestine Tyson Rhodes passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011. She was born in Greenville, SC and resided in Avondale Estates, GA for the past 43 years. She graduated from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC where she received a teaching degree in Home Economics. She was a devoted wife and mother and an active member of First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates where she was a member of the choir for many years. She enjoyed helping other people and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lewis Rhodes; sister, Ruth Anne Glascoe; son, John Rhodes; daughters, Nan Maier and Leiann Frederick; 7 grandchildren, Jeff Rhodes, Brian Maier, Alison Skrifvars, Jennifer Smith, Emily Frederick, Jonathan Frederick and Christopher Frederick; 2 great-grandchildren, Virginia Rhodes and Martha Rhodes; 3 nieces and 1 nephew. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Avondale Estates First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service at the church. A. S. Turner & Sons.
