Esther Major Puckett

Mrs. Esther Major Puckett, age 82, formerly of Decatur passed away Sunday, August 26, 2007. She graduated from L. S. U. in 1941 and was a stewardess with Pan American Airlines. She was also a substitute teacher with the DeKalb County School System. Mrs. Puckett delivered food for Meals On Wheels for over 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. A. M. (Bill) Puckett. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Puckett and Dennis Simeone; sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and Lone Puckett, Kemp and Karin Puckett, Greg and Jane Puckett; sisters, Joyce Andries, Denna Debataz; brother, Spike Major; grandchildren, Jessica, Alexander, Jennifer, Christine, Savanna and Solvej Puckett; great grandchild, Madlen Staford; many beloved nieces and nephews and her best friend, Rambo. Mrs. Puckett was the sweetest lady that ever lived. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 28th. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in honor of her great nephew, Zane Gabor, her poker partner. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
