Ethel Frances Plunk, age 82, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Excelling at an early age Fran was valedictorian of her graduating class. She went on to a career working in the financial field at C&S Bank, Goodwill Industries, and Clarkston International Bible Church. She made many life long friends and could be seen many days walking her beloved dog "Shotzi" and talking with all of her neighbors. She showed love to everyone she met, greeting them with a smile and a hug. Family gatherings at Christmas, Birthdays, and Reunions were always at the top of her "To Do" list. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Sims; her mother, Edna Garrett; her husband, George Wendell Plunk of Clarkston; her daughter, Gail Smith of Bowdon; and her sister, Betty Lessard of Conyers. Survivors include her son, David Loftin and his wife Linda of Decatur; her son, Darrell Loftin and his wife Linda of Hogansville; her son, Phillip Loftin; her son, Scott Plunk and his wife Laura; her brother, Fred Sims and his wife Peggy of Jonesboro; her sister, Patricia Myer of Guyton; her sister, Bobby Jean Kennedy and her husband Tommy of Griffin; and her step-brother, Jimmy Garrett and his wife Betty of Griffin. Survivors also include a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many others.
Visitation is from 10 - 11:30 AM Sunday April 8th at Turner & Sons funeral home. A memorial service will follow at 11:30. Interment will be at 1:30 at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens in Conyers. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association at https://www.alz.org/nca/in_my_community_donate.asp.
