Eugenia Reed Baughman

Mrs. Eugenia Reed Baughman of Atlanta died Tuesday, November 2, 2010. She was born and raised in Cedar Springs, GA, the youngest of four children. After graduation from Jakin High School, she attended Georgia State Women’s College and the University of Georgia, graduating with a BS degree in Home Economics Education. She then taught Home Economics in Moultrie and Griffin High Schools. In 1948 she married Leon Edward Baughman and settled in the Emory area of Atlanta, where they remained happily married for 50 years. She and Lee were active members of Druid Hills United Methodist Church thru 1963, when they moved their membership to Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Eugenia sang in the chancel choir, was an active member of the Kitchen Committee, served as a Sunday School teacher, chaired the Senior Adult Council and Home Bound Program, and was a dedicated member of the Mariners Sunday School class. Eugenia loved music and from age eleven often played piano for church in Cedar Springs. She loved reading, cooking, time spent with family and friends, baseball, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, and staying involved with her four grandchildren. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bill Widmayer; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Susan Baughman; 4 grandchildren, Beth, Paul, Michael, Patrick; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov 6th at 11AM at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with her remains lying in repose at 10AM. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Road, Decatur, GA 30033. Friends are invited to visit with the family Friday evening from 6 until 8PM at A. S. Turner & Sons and on Saturday from 10AM until the hour of service at the church.
