Eva Mae Haskitt
Sept. 21, 1916-Nov. 22, 2013
Eva Mae's main focus in life was her family, gardening, playing bridge, and doing crossword puzzles. Having a cornucopia of interests, she enjoyed life to the fullest. She was born in Stephens, Georgia, and our beautiful Georgia peach lived her early years in Georgia. She worked for several years as a secretary for Sharp and Dome Pharmaceuticals. She met her former husband, an American soldier, during WWII. After a brief courtship, they married and moved to Michigan to raise a family. Eva was known as a kind and loving person who easily made friends. A wonderful cook, she was known for her delicious dinner rolls, cakes, and award-winning pecan pie. She had a terrific sense of humor, and would often come forth with a comment that would break up the room with laughter. She was a devoted member of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, and has many friends within the congregation. After retirement as a secretary from Whaley Children's Center, Eva moved back to Georgia to be near relatives. She is survived by a son, William Haskitt of Ashburn, VA, a son, Douglas Haskitt, of St. Petersburg, FL, a daughter, Rebecca Haskitt, of Chico, CA, and a sister, Phoebe Babo, of Navato, CA. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 25, 2013, from 4-7 PM at A.S. Turner and Sons in Decatur. The funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, at 11 AM at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 4882 La Vista Rd., Tucker, GA 30084.
