Evelyn Elizabeth Upchurch

Evelyn Potts Upchurch, age 85, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Atlanta native Edwin Upchurch, parents Dillard and Rosa Potts, and sister Mildred Praytor. She is survived by her two daughters, Carol O'Connor (Steve) of Tallahassee, FL and Joy Barmore (Rodney) of Flower Mound, TX and son, Howard Upchurch of Johns Creek, GA, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Evelyn was a native Atlantan, actively involved in her community and church. A devout Christian, Evelyn was a long time member of Briarlake Baptist Church, singing in the choir, serving as Sunday School teacher, donating her time and services. She also enjoyed bridge, travel, and gardening. Evelyn excelled in making her house a home. Nothing surpassed her faith in God and love for her husband and children. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, August 27, 2012, at the chapel of Briarlake Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Ferrell officiating. Interment, Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Atlanta Cancer Society or Briarlake Baptist Church.
