Evelyn Joann Chewning

Our loving mother, Evelyn Joann Chewning, died peacefully on Thursday January 18, 2018. She was born on Monday, May 18th, 1931, at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. She grew up in Tucker, on Weems Road, (where the Northlake Festival is now located). She graduated from Tucker High School and was a long time member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alton Henry Chewning (Shorty), and their son, Mark Alan Chewning, She is survived by her brother, J P (Jake) Williams; sister, Betty Williams Goolsby; son, Wayne Alton Chewning; daughter in law, Pam Thomason Chewning; daughter, Brenda Chewning McClure, son in law, Charles (Alan) McClure; and daughter, Donna Chewning George, son in law, Randall George. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Her services will be held on Saturday January 20th in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. David Bradford officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker, GA. The family will receive friends one hour before the services.
