Evelyn Pearl Cooper Riley, 91, died on July 30, 2011. She was born on February 5, 1920 in Rich Creek, VA to Mary Ellen Spangler and Larry Milton Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Charles Riley, her granddaughter, Shelley Harmon, her brother, Guy Allen Cooper and her great-nephew, Dustin Cooper. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Sammy Harmon of Atlanta; her grandson Gray Harmon and his fiancée, Susie Heckendorn of Los Angeles, CA; her brother and his wife, Charles ( Buddy) and Alma Cooper of Swannanoa, NC; sisters-in-law, Eunice Broyles of LaFollette, TN and Bernadine Sims of Morristown, TN and her lifelong friend, Robert Crout of Charleston, SC as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She, her husband, an Air Force pilot, and daughter moved often eventually settling in Charlottesville, VA. She later lived in Augusta, GA and in 2001 moved to The Towers at Wesley Woods to be near family. She was devoted to her husband, family and friends and enjoyed being a homemaker. The Celebration of her Life will be Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 2:30 pm at Embry Hills United Methodist Church, 3304 Henderson Mill Rd., Atlanta, GA 30341 with The Reverend Elaine Puckett and The Reverend Lee Fullerton officiating. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorials to Shelley Harmon's Camp Glisson Scholarship Fund at Embry Hills United Methodist Church or to Hospice Atlanta, 1244 Park vista Dr. NE, Atlanta, GA 30319. Her ashes will be buried with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery. A memorial service at The Towers is pending. A.S. Turner & Sons
