Fay E. Evatt, 82, of Lithonia, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Atlanta Medical Center (AMC), after a valiant struggle with cancer. Fay had been the Medical Librarian at AMC for 38 years. Upon her retirement the Medical Library was named in her honor. Fay was always there with a helping hand and everyone who knew her loved her. She was a great mother, aunt, friend, cook, and joke-teller. Fay’s wonderful sense of humor, infectious laugh and caring spirit will be missed by countless others. She was truly the life of every party. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dan “Dij” and Kim Evatt; one grandson, Graham “Boo” Evatt; sisters, Sarah Schulte of New York, Carolyn “Bitsy” Hoffner of Tybee Island, GA; and brother, John “Bubba” Eleazer of Texas. She was loved and will be remembered by her nieces and nephews: Patricia and Steve Nicholas, Ray and Dalynda Almand, Becky Almand, Lucy Danziger, Peter Schulte, Andrea Tanner, Reverend Alex Hoffner and Stephanie Eleazer; and 13 great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Saturday, October 3 in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 pm.
