Felder R. Spivey, Jr., 89, passed away on Nov. 11, 2015 at Hospice Atlanta. Born in Talbotton, GA, he left Auburn to enlist in the Navy during WWII, where he was selected for Officer's Training School. He graduated from the University of Georgia in '49 where he was a member of the SAE fraternity. He went to work for GMAC for 39 years where he became a control branch manager of the largest branch in the Southeast managing over 200 people and a portfolio totaling $1.2 billion. After retirement, he went on to work for five years for the First Southern Bank of Lithonia where he was Chief Lending Officer. He had a lifetime love of tennis and played at Druid Hills Golf Club with his team, the Silver Bullets, until he put down his racquet at age 80. He enjoyed another Breakfast Club called the ROMEO Club, Real Old Men Eating Out! Married to 'Pete' Martha Spivey for 39 years, he is survived by a son, Robert P. Spivey, and a daughter, Georgia Spivey Ashbaugh and her husband Dave Ashbaugh. Also, he is survived by nieces and nephews, Randy Shepard, Elizabeth Shepard Gilliard, Jane Mitchell Sheffield, and Robert Mitchell. Visitation will be Sunday Nov. 15th, at 2:00 PM in the church parlor, followed by a service at 3:00 PM at the Glenn Memorial Methodist Church Chapel, Atlanta, GA.
