Ferdinand Gorousingh

March 28, 1952 — October 12, 2018

Ferdinand Gorousingh affectionately called “Ferdie” was born on March 28, 1952 to Mr. & Mrs. Clifford and Caroline Gorousingh. Ferdinand was one of twelve children; he and his siblings have maintained close relationships throughout the years. As a child, he attended The Alley School in Longwood, Clarendon in Jamaica. When Ferdinand became a teenager, he made a decision that would change the course of his life forever, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was an active member of Longwood Gospel Chapel, and as a young man was even captain of the bible competition team. As he grew up, Ferdinand developed an interest in the military, and enlisted in the Jamaica Defense Force in January 1970. During this time, he was found to be a dedicated, hardworking, and loyal soldier. His conduct was exemplary. Soon after he joined the military, God would lead him to meet a young woman who would be his partner for life. On November 25, 1978, he married the love of his life, Faith Burrowes. This union was blessed with two sons Geoffrey and Daniel. He was a hardworking entrepreneur and after leaving the army, he worked in the auto parts industry. In 1994, he migrated to the United States to join his wife and children in New York City. He worked at various companies. Ferdie was an active member of Cambria Heights Gospel Chapel, as well as Bethany Gospel Chapel where he spearheaded the prayer ministry. No matter what Ferdie set out to do, he gave his all. He was a man of integrity, dedication, honesty, and possessed a strong work ethic. He was passionate about reaching people for Jesus Christ and was deeply involved in the “Tract Distribution Ministry.” He supported Christian Mission in Many Lands (CMML), as well as, the Malawi Mission at Gwinnett Bible Chapel. Ferdie will be remembered for his endearing smile, his contagious laughter, his humble spirit, and the joy he brought to all who knew and loved him. You could find him in the kitchen at any time creating delicious food to share with others. Ferdie and his wife resided together happily in Snellville, Georgia for many years. On October 12, 2018, Ferdie was surrounded by loved ones as he peacefully transitioned into the arms of the Savior whom he loved. By his side were his wife, Faith, and his youngest son, Daniel, and his wife Tremaine. Also present in support were his sister, Marjorie, and his cousin, Lois. Ferdie is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, and friends who will carry on his great legacy in the years to come.
