Florence Duella Hield Royall passed away on June 3, 2016 at her home in Decatur, Georgia. Florence was born on November 18, 1920 in Evanston, Illinois, the daughter of the late Horace And Duella Hield. Her family moved to Florida in 1929. She spent the rest of her childhood there and in Arizona. After graduating from high school Florence attended Florida State University where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She graduated from the University of Arizona and then taught 4th grade and music in Tucson, Arizona. While in Arizona she met her late husband, John M. Royall, Jr., who was in training to be a pilot in the United States Army Air Forces. They married in 1945 and settled in Decatur, Georgia. Florence was a member of Decatur Presbyterian Church, The Book Lovers of Decatur, Georgia, and the Junior League. She was a Girl Scout leader, earning the Thanks Badge award for her many years of service to young women. She enjoyed snow skiing, gardening, and reading. She is survived by her son, John (June) Royall, of Atlanta, and two daughters, Duanne (Mike) Kaiser, of Sautee, Georgia, and Janice (Don) Woodard, of Greenville, South Carolina, two nephews, Alan (Sue) Hulbert and Rick (Pam) Hulbert, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Jan Hulbert and her niece, Pamela Dannelly, and her great-nephew, Chris Dannelly. A memorial service will be held June 10th, 11:00 am, at Decatur Presbyterian Church, in Decatur, Georgia, with Rev. Alexandra Rogers and Rev. Richard C. Hulbert officiating.
