Mrs. Florrie Ruth Persons Johnson, age 103, a long time resident of Atlanta, GA died June 2, 2009. She was born April 25, 1906 in Monticello, GA to Andrew Jackson Persons and Mary Anne Daugherty Persons. She was a 1925 graduate of Monticello High School and she married Joe Allen Johnson also a Monticello native. He was one of Monticello’s first city electricians. They moved to Atlanta in 1926 and were long time members of Moreland Avenue Baptist Church and 45 year members at Mount Carmel Christian Church now in Stone Mountain, GA. After her husband’s death in 1972, she resided at Twin Oaks in Avondale Estates, then Briarcliff Oaks and most recently at Montclair Personal Care in Decatur. She is survived by her two daughters, Marie Johnson Skandera of Norcross, GA and Jo Anne Johnson Adamson and her husband Gerald of Tucker, GA; grandsons Allan Andrew Adamson, Tucker, GA, Dr. Gerald Todd Adamson, Los Angles, CA, and Daniel Joseph Skandera (the Marimba Man) of Norcross, GA. The entire family always continued to support and attend 5th Sunday services at Mount Zion Christian Church in Monticello, GA. A family graveside service will be held Friday, June 5th at 11 a.m. at Resthaven Gardens of Memory on Candler Road in Decatur.
