Frances Cornell Westerstrom passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007. She was born on February 24, 1911 to John and Gertrude Gibbins in Newport, KY. She married John Milton Cornell in Aurora, IL and, together they moved to Atlanta in 1936, becoming one of the first residents of the Virginia Highlands area. Frances worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta for many years as a supervisor, retiring in 1966 and then worked at H. M. Patterson & Son at Spring Hill. After the death of her husband, Jack, she married Russell Westerstrom. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Druid Hills Golf Club, the Buckhead Club, and DBX sorority. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, her son, Richard, her parents, and her three brothers. She is survived by three granddaughters, Frances Anne, Allison, and Katherine; four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and devoted caregivers, Catherine Bivins and Michelle Coulton. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 10th. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to her favorite charity, the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Rd., NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
