Frances Edwards Edrington, 71, of Tucker, GA passed away peacefully Saturday, September 1, 2007, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Decatur, GA, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Julia Edwards. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Frank Edrington. Theirs was a marriage unsurpassed in love and loyalty. Frances grew up in Decatur and was a graduate of Decatur High School and she attended both the University of Georgia and Georgia State. Frances was one of the key organizers for reunions for the class of 53 of Decatur High. She was a life long member of Decatur First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years and she guided many children toward the love of Jesus. A teacher at Hawthorne Elementary School for 20 years, she hosted the school's staff Christmas party at her home for many years. Our Fran had a tremendous passion for people and touched so many with her warm smile and happy eyes. For over 50 years she enjoyed frequent vacations to Jekyll and Amelia Islands. She loved going with her family and friends. Other survivors include her son Bill and daughter-in-law Mandy and their sons, Brock and Alex; and her daughter, Susan Edrington Bryan and son-in-law, Kevin Bryan, and their girls, Julia and Olivia; two sisters, Ann Edwards and Judy Edwards Crawford; brother-in-law, Tom and their sons, Jeff, David and Matthew. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Decatur First United Methodist Church. Bishop Bevel L. Jones and Dr. David Naglee will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Emory Winship Cancer Institute, c/o Emory Developmental Office, 1365-B Clifton Rd., Suite 4100, Atlanta, GA 30322 or a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
