Mrs. Frances Jenkins Anderson, 92, of Decatur, died Thursday, April 30, 2009. A native of Brevard, North Carolina, Mrs. Anderson was a real estate broker for Strickland Reality Co. in Decatur and also helped her husband build and manage DeKalb Reality Company. A loving wife and devoted mother, Mrs. Anderson’s exceptional kindness and gentle wit were appreciated by all who knew her. Frances was most recently a resident of Philips Tower where she was actively involved with her friends, whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances Juliette Riley and Arthur Neville Jenkins and her siblings, Anna Mary Jenkins, Lillian Margaret Jenkins, Alberta Donnelly Jenkins Zachary, Elizabeth Beckett Jenkins Catlin, Janet Riley Jenkins Spartan and Arthur Hunt Jenkins. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband, Jack Y. Anderson, whom she married on Thanksgiving Day 1949; daughters, Merle V. Anderson of Decatur, Alice E. Brumbach and her husband Joel of Trussville, AL, Margaret A. Anderson of New York City; granddaughters, Frances E. Weaver, and Grace Y. Brumbach. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 4, 2009 at 3:30 P.M. in the chapel of Decatur Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mary Huie-Jolly, Chaplain at Philips Tower. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A. S.
