Frank Mallary Carryl, III, of Decatur, GA passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010. Mr. Carryl was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on May 12, 1919, and was the second son of Frank Carryl, Jr. and Vera Brown Carryl. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Neal Carryl of Grand Rapid, Michigan and Lawrence (Larry) Carryl of Madison, Wisconsin. During World War II, he served 41/2 years in the U.S. Air Force. He served for 6 months in India and was then stationed in China for 18 months with the 14th wing of the Air Force. Miss Venice Huckabee and they were married June 16, 1945. They moved to Decatur where they have continued to live. Mr. Carryl joined with his father to spend a long career as a sales representative for several wholesale refrigeration equipment manufacturers. They later began representing several lines of scientific equipment used by colleges and hospitals. He was a 60-year active member of Decatur Presbyterian Church. Mr. Carryl was a member of Decatur Rotary Club and served as President in 1969-1970. In addition, he served as President of the ASHRE - a group representing heating and air conditioning businesses. Mr. Carryl was a dedicated volunteer at Fernbank Museum, receiving a certificate for over 2,000 hours
of service. He was a good man who loved his family and friends. Playing golf and watching football were favorite pastimes and he was known for always having a joke to share. Mr. Carryl held a special place in his heart for children and animals. His wife of almost 70 years, Venice Carryl and his sister-in-law, Glenda Carryl, survive him. A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary at Decatur Presbyterian Church at 11:00 A. M. on Tuesday, April 27, followed by a reception in the church parlor.
