Frank Mitchell Maloof, Sr.May 14, 1922 - July 2, 2007Frank Mitchell Maloof, Sr. passed away on July 2, 2007 at the age of 85. He was a native Atlantan, graduating from Commercial High School and the University of Georgia. He was proud to have served his country in World War II as a member of the 7th Infantry Division. He was awarded many medals, including the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his efforts in helping the U.S. reclaim the Philippine Islands during the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign. A successful businessman, his career in the financial services industry spanned six decades. Mr. Maloof served on the board of directors of Johnson, Lane, Space, Smith, and Company, Inc and later became a partner of J.C. Bradford and Company, eventually purchased by UBS Financial Services where he retired in 2002. He was a past president of the Cedar Club of Atlanta and member of the board of directors of the Southern Federation of Syrian Lebanese American Clubs. Working closely with Danny Thomas, Mr. Maloof chaired fundraising activities in the Atlanta area for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He enjoyed many years as coach of boys youth baseball and girls softball at Briarcliff Community Sports. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Druid Hills Golf Club. Mr. Maloof is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dolores Mansour Maloof, children, Judy Maloof Winstel (Rick), Rita Maloof, Laura Maloof Grunow (Bob), Pam Maloof, and Steve Maloof (Valerie). His son, Frank M. Maloof, Jr. preceded him in death. Mr. Maloof's treasured grandchildren include Bobby Grunow, Sarah Grunow, Luke Winstel, Frankie Maloof, Anna Maloof, and Amelia Maloof. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Joseph's Hospital Mercy Foundation. Rosary services will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. at A.S.
