Frank Sylvanus "Van" Fenn was born March 10, 1948 in Atlanta, GA, died September 28, 2014. He is predeceased by his parents, Harry Talbot Fenn and Rachel Elizabeth Grier Fenn and by his brother, Donald Robert Fenn. He is survived by his son Frank Joshua "Josh" Fenn of Jackson County, GA; his sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and Robert Gilmer of Anderson, SC; his niece, Elizabeth "Liz" Gilmer of Charleston, SC and his aunt and uncle, Mary and Billy Sowell of Crescent, GA and many cousins. He attended the University of Georgia and was a graduate of West Georgia College and the Woodrow Wilson School of Law. He had worked as an accountant. Frank's special interests included American and Military history, volunteering, reading and animals. He spent many years working the election polls for DeKalb County, GA. He had recently lost his devoted companion of 18 years, his retired therapy dog, Georgia. He and Georgia spent many years volunteering for the Central Night Shelter in downtown Atlanta. Frank will be remembered for his kind and generous heart. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Sara Webb Phillips will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 PM, prior to the service on Friday. Interment at Arlington Memorial Park will follow the chapel service.
