Frank Woodrow (Woody) Rogers

Frank Rogers was born in Asheville, NC. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Following the war he worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Asheville until his transfer to Atlanta in 1959. He enjoyed almost 35 years in retirement, making numerous international trips and talking with his many friends overseas by amateur radio. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 62 years, Wilma Kyles Rogers, in 2006. He is survived by his two sons, David F. Rogers and wife Jayne of Loganville, GA; Richard A. Rogers and wife Catherine of Atlanta; grandsons Randall Rogers and wife Pingping of Busan, South Korea; and Mark Rogers; sister Eloise Landes of Asheville, NC; niece Sharon Erwin and nephews Bill Whitehead, Larry Landes and Jim Brown, also of Asheville, NC. A family graveside service was held on December 12. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 7, 2012, in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA, with visitation beginning at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Frank Rogers to the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra, PO Box 1313, Tucker, GA 30085.
