Fred H. Jackson, Jr. died on March 29, 2011 , at the age of 88, due to a long battle with cancer. He was born February 4, 1923 in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Boys High School in 1941. He worked numerous jobs throughout his childhood to provide for his family. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 and served in the Aleutian Islands during WWII. He started Foam Fabricators of Georgia, Inc. in 1973 and continued working and owning the business until his death. Besides work, he loved spending time in his beautiful yard and garden. His yard was featured in the 1997 Dunwoody Nature Center Dream Gardens Tour. He also loved traveling to Europe, spending quality time with his family, and making many long-lasting pieces of furniture. He was a member of Atlanta First United Methodist Church for 63 years, and a member of the MACO Sunday School Class. He taught Sunday School for many years to the children and youth of the church. He was an usher and his favorite, ringing the church steeple bell for the 11am worship service. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 61 years, Barbara H. Jackson. He is survived by his 2 sons, Bill (Jo) Jackson, Ringgold, GA and Bob (Patti) Jackson Riverside, CA; 4 grandchildren, Carrie (Lanier) Scruggs, Todd (Kallie) Jackson, Chris and Kim Jackson; 5 great grandchildren, Lewis, Jackson, Henry Scruggs, and Will, Kate Jackson. The memorial service will be on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Atlanta. The family will receive visitors from 9:30 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. in the Maco Sunday School Classroom at the church followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the santuary. In lieu of flowers donations can be given to Atlanta First United Methodist Church, 360 Peachtree St. N.E. Atlanta, GA.
