Frederick B. Field, age 62, of Decatur, Ga. died on July 10, 2009, after an extended illness. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 11:00 A.M. at Melwood Cemetery, East Ponce de Leon in Stone Mountain. Fred is survived by children, Kevin Field of Cumming, Ga, Keith Field (Maria) of Cumming, Ga, Karen Field Lauterbach (Derek) of Decatur, Ga; 7 grandchildren; and brother, Richard Field (Glenda) of Augusta, Ga. He was preceded in death by parents Archie and Mary Jane Field, and sisters Mary Susan Knight and Annette Field. Fred grew up in East Atlanta and Stone Mountain. He played clarinet in the East Atlanta Elementary Band, the Stone Mountain High School Band, and the Army National Guard Band. He served in the Army National Guard and had the highest score in marksmanship in his basic training class. He worked many years with the Atlanta Gaslight Company. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. The family will receive friends immediately after the graveside service. A. S. Turner & Sons
