Frederick Kalow Donaldson

Frederick Kalow Donaldson of Decatur, GA, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, after courageously battling illnesses related to diabetes. Born February 2, 1950, in Lafayette, IN, he soon moved to Anderson, IN, his adopted hometown. He graduated from Madison Heights High School, and DePauw University. After graduate studies at Ball State University, he began 30 years of service with the YMCA at associations in South Bend, IN, Milwaukee, WI, and finally Atlanta, GA. He retired in 2005, concluding his career as a consultant for the YMCA of the USA. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Suzahn Huffman-Donaldson, and son, Gregory Huffman Donaldson (Mallory) of Portland, OR. The eldest of five children, he was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dr. Frank C. Donaldson and Mrs. Loraine K. Donaldson, and by his brother, Thomas W. Donaldson. Surviving relatives include siblings Frank C. Donaldson, Jr. (Alison) of Lafayette, IN; Susie Huff (David) of Lapel, IN; and David L. Donaldson (Heidi) of Indianapolis, IN; as well as uncles George and John Donaldson; and nephews and nieces Jack, Max, and Aaron Donaldson; Kalow and Klayton Huff and Karleigh Huff Bacon; Alexandra and Andrew Donaldson; Haley, Jordan, and Garland Huffman; and Tully and Carson Kerr. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, June 21, at 2:00 pm at Decatur Presbyterian Church, 205 Sycamore Street, Dr. Todd Speed and Rev. Ken Hughes officiating. There will be a reception at the church following the service, at which time the family will receive friends. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta, 100 Edgewood Ave. NE, Suite 1100, Atlanta GA 30303, Decatur Presbyterian Church, or DePauw University, Greencastle IN.
