Frederick Warren Rowley

October 4, 2028 — June 3, 2010

Frederick Warren “Pete” Rowley, 81, of Decatur, passed away on June 3, 2010, following a brief illness. His wife, Marie, preceded him in death in 2003. He was a native of Harwich Port, Mass.

Born Oct. 4, 1928, he was affiliated for many years with Litton Industries and retired as an executive with Rollins, Inc. In retirement he was active as a financial planner, especially for the elderly. Rowley was an active member of Central Congregational Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. For most of his life, he was an avid golfer and an enthusiastic and loving volunteer for many causes including Parkinson’s Foundation and Plymouth Harbor.  Also he was a lifelong blood donor. He especially loved his grandchildren, each of whom he gave a pet name that he (and they) always used.

Five children survive him: Linda Williams (Phil), Gail Tarpley (Dave), Melody Slaughter (Eddie), Donna Myers (Ted), and Brian Rowley (Brandy). He is also survived by three brothers: Herb Rowley (Bernice), Bob Rowley (Vaughn), and Glenn Rowley (Carole), all of Cape Cod, Mass. In addition, he is survived by grandchildren, Brandon, Laura, Megan, Matt, Sarah, Eddie, Melissa, Jacob, Marianna, Jessica, David Chris, Meredith, Holly, Madison and two great-grandchildren: Caleb and Mollie. A loving companion, Aneta Phelps of Decatur, also survives him.

Visitation will be 2 pm to 4pm Saturday afternoon, June 5th, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at 4pm at Central Congregational Church, 2676 Clairmont Rd., Atlanta, with the Rev. Michael Prater presiding.  Interment of his ashes will take place later with those of his late wife in the memory garden adjacent to Central Congregational.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those interested make donations in Rowley’s name to Central Congregational Church.

A.S. Turner & Sons funeral home in Decatur is in charge of arrangements.
