Garnett John Moreland

Mr. Garnett John Moreland, Jr., age 80, a native Atlantan, and a resident of Destin, Florida since 1999, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 2, 2008 surrounded by his loving wife and children.  Garnett was born on April 2, 1928 in Atlanta, GA.  He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy and a long-time member of Briarlake Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; son, Stephen Moreland and daughter-in-law, Nan; daughters, Sheryl and Angela Moreland; grandson, Nathan Samples and his wife Morgan; great grandson, Caden Samples; and brothers, Willard and Gomar Moreland.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday morning, May 6th at Briarlake Baptist Church Chapel, 3715 LaVista Rd., Decatur, GA  30033.  Reverend Gordon Pittard will officiate. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery, 5170 East Ponce de Leon Ave., Stone Mountain, GA  30083.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday evening at A. S.
