Gary Ray Stout

May 1, 1945 — August 7, 2023

Gary Ray Stout was born May 1, 1945 in Princeton, Illinois. He moved to Georgia when times were hard. He was a family man, a policeman, long haul truck driver and auto mechanic. He always wanted to be a history teacher because he loved history. He retired from Fieldale Farms after 25 years. He joined the Army when he was 17 and drove heavy trucks and earned an E5 during the Vietnam War. He earned the Combat Cross and a Purple Heart for his service. Gary loved telling experiences about his days in Vietnam.


Gary loved cars and built a green firebird race car in Kewanee, IL. He was a family man and a private person. Animals were a big part of his life. He had horses, dogs and cats and they loved him.


Gary married Diane Brown in October, 2015 after the passing of his first wife Marilyn. Gary and Diane liked to travel places together. They loved visiting zoos, small animal farms, eating out at restaurants and movies.


He is survived by his wife Diane W. Brown and a sister Karen (Ken) Miller. Siblings Gary Wayne Stout, Sherry (Bill) Cinnamon and Lori (Richard) Marquardt. Preceding him in death was His mother, Altha Opal Hill and his father, Lynn August Stout, a brother Robert Lynn Stout, his sister Shirley Ann Shirley Anne Stout Ueckert, Terry Lee Stout and Larry Stout.


He has 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren with one on the way.


Gary always helped those in need and enjoyed serving others.


Gary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.


A Funeral Service will be held on August 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of AS Turner and Sons Funeral Home. There will be a visitation an hour prior. The interment will follow the service at Georgia National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
