Gary Valin Ecklund

Gary Ecklund, 76, of Decatur, passed away September 15, 2014. Gary was born January 31, 1938 in Aurora, Illinois, served 4 years in the US Navy, and relocated to Georgia in 1973. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pat, and sons James (Dianne), John, Jeff (Roxanne), and Joseph (Liz); grandchildren Michael (Katie), Michelle, Jessica, Kellie, Laura, and Jenny; and great-grandson Johnathan. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters; and survived by 1 brother, 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday, September 19 at A. S. Turner and Sons, and the funeral will be at 11am on Saturday, September 20 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies of Georgia (2300 Henderson Mill, Rd, Suite 410; Atlanta, GA, 30345) or the Dekalb Services Center Auxiliary (2660 Osborne Rd, NE; Atlanta, GA, 30319).
