George P. Macrenaris

August 28, 1944 — April 19, 2011

George P. Macrenaris, of Atlanta, passed away on April 19, 2011, after a lengthy illness following heart surgery. George was a native of Atlanta and was born August 27, 1944. He was preceded in death by his mother, Athena Calomiros Macrenaris and is survived by many family members and close friends. George was a devoted life-long member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Atlanta, where he was a member of the Annunciation Choir for many years. George began his film career as a cinematographer/director making documentaries with PBS. He had made his first feature film by age thirty. This was a prelude to a successful career with work at Universal Studios and Walt Disney Studios in Hollywood. Later, he worked for Georgia Public Broadcasting. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greek Cathedral, 2500 Clairmont Rd, Atlanta GA 30329.
