Georgia Richardson McCurley, age 61 of Lilburn, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2016 surrounded by her family. Georgia was born in Los Angeles, California on July 16, 1954. She grew up in Oklahoma City and moved to Atlanta after she met and married her beloved husband of 41 years, Brian McCurley. Georgia spent her life devoted to her family and friends and acted as a mother to many more than just her three children. From her "sorority" days at Baylor University, to her ladies bible study group of over 30 years, to the many people she met through her years at Livsey Elementary, she was a loyal friend to all. She was God's gift to so many - guiding her family with love, patience and resourcefulness, leading friends to Christ and walking with them, giving generously, serving, repairing, healing and filling the world with joyful laughter. She was a problem solver extraordinaire, dedicated wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandma/Gigi, and faithful friend. Georgia was truly a woman clothed in strength and dignity, bringing honor and goodness all the days of her life. She will be missed beyond measure. Georgia is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Brian McCurley of Lilburn; her three children, Kilby McCurley (Jamie York McCurley) of Atlanta, Jared McCurley (Kristi Childers McCurley) of Houston, TX, and Anna McCurley Ford (Steven Ford) of Atlanta; Carrie Thompson of Duluth; her brothers David Richardson of Charleston, SC and Tim Gold of Oklahoma City; four beautiful granddaughters and many beloved nieces and nephews. Georgia was preceded in death by her mother Danean Gold of Oklahoma City; her father Lawrence Richardson of Los Angeles, CA; her step-mother Wilma Wishon of Thousand Palms, CA; and her sister Robin Strom of Oklahoma City.
