Gerald Andrew Adamson, of Decatur, Georgia, died Friday, July 14, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 12, 1942, in Atlanta, GA to the late Albert Andrew Adamson, Jr. and Lois Pons Adamson. Gerald served in the Marine Reserves for six years and had a career in sales with Citizen Watch Company and with SMH Watch Company. He was a member of Southern Jewelry Trade Association. He was an active golfer throughout his life. He was a member of the Hope Class at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Gerald was a gentle soul and he will be remembered for his good sense of humor and his quick wit. He always left you with a smile.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAnne Adamson and their two sons, Allan and Todd; sisters-in-law, Colette and Ginger Adamson and Gail Shirley; nephews, Daniel Skandera, Danny and his wife, Kimberly, Jason and his wife, Jessica, Luke, and Ben Adamson, and Josh Hamette and his wife, Kristin; niece, Patricia Archer; and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his three brothers, Robert, William “Bill”, and Daniel Adamson.
The family would like to thank Atlanta Hospice for the wonderful care Gerald received from Ann Mitchell, Anna Gray, and Donna Brat.
There will be a memorial service with reception to follow at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, in the Grand Hall of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Road Decatur, GA 30033.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Annandale Village, a community for Developmentally and Mentally Challenged Adults, or to Oak Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund.
